"Whether you win or lose the game, it is the coaches' and parents reaction to the situations that teaches the kids how to accept the game results ."

New SNBMHL Rule 9.13

If at any time during a SNBMHL league and or playoff game a member of the bench staff attends to an injured player on the ice, the injured player and a member of the bench staff and or parent/guardian must exit the playing area to their dressing room for a period of 12 minutes playing time or until the game expires whichever occurs first. The player is not permitted back to the bench before this time expires. If player returns to bench or ice before the time expires he/she will be deemed an ineligible player. First Shift Program-Oct 14 is Registration Deadline

Sussex Minor Hockey is one of only 2 hockey associations in NB that have been selected for The First Shift Program. It is a Canada wide initiative to introduce kids and their families into the sport of hockey in a fun and friendly environment. Hockey Canada has partnered with Bauer who is providing all the gear for those registered. We begin with a Welcome Event, offering information and activities for the kids.
The program includes 12 on ice sessions - one per week on the same day, at the same time to make it convenient for parents to schedule. The focus for the on ice sessions is fun, teaching kids basic skating and fundamental hockey skills through play.

The First Shift is open to boys and girls, ages 6-10 who have never registered in hockey before
The registration fee is $199 and includes:

  • Welcome session- information, education & equipment fit session
  • 12 on ice sessions
  • Head to toe hockey equipment

The First Shift Welcome event will be Monday Oct. 20th (6:30pm-9pm) upstairs at the 8th Hussars Arena. For all of the details and contact information, please click here.
